LOOKOUT Remote ID receivers for drone detection

LOOKOUT / Remote ID receivers for drone detection

LOOKOUT Remote ID Sensors.

FAA Remote ID receivers for drone detection by fire, EMS and law enforcement. Each node runs three dedicated receivers and puts every broadcasting drone, and its operator, on the TAK map your crews already use.

How it works

One receiver per band.

Drones broadcast Remote ID on 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, 5 GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. A single receiver has to switch between them and misses messages while it listens elsewhere. LOOKOUT gives each band its own receiver, so all three listen all the time.

2.4 GHz

Wi-Fi

NAN and Beacon frames, channel 6.

5 GHz

Wi-Fi

NAN and Beacon frames, channel 149.

2.4 GHz

Bluetooth

Bluetooth 4 legacy and Bluetooth 5 Long Range.

Output

One track per drone

Drone and operator positions, merged across receivers, labeled against your fleet whitelist.

Models

Four nodes. One design.

Every model has the same three receivers and decoding. Pick the ones that match where you need to listen: on an officer, in a vehicle, on a building or on a tower.

Questions

Remote ID receiver FAQ.

What is a Remote ID receiver?

FAA rules (14 CFR Part 89) require most drones flying in the U.S. to broadcast Remote ID: the drone's serial number or session ID, position, altitude, speed and the location of its control station. A Remote ID receiver picks up those broadcasts so you can see who is flying near you and where the pilot is standing.

Which Remote ID signals do LOOKOUT RID Sensors receive?

All of the broadcast modes used in the U.S. under ASTM F3411: Bluetooth 4 legacy advertising, Bluetooth 5 Long Range and extended advertising, and Wi-Fi NAN and Beacon on channels 6 (2.4 GHz) and 149 (5 GHz). Each band has its own receiver, so none is missed while another is being heard.

Do they detect drones that don't broadcast Remote ID?

No. Remote ID receivers only see drones that broadcast. For drones that don't, LOOKOUT combines Remote ID with partner drone radar and other sensors in one picture. Ask us about LOOKOUT for full drone awareness.

Do they work with TAK and ATAK?

Yes. The RN-1 and RT-1 send Cursor on Target over TLS to your TAK Server. The RX-1 and RV-1 feed the LOOKOUT ATAK plugin on a phone or tablet. Drones and pilots show up as separate tracks, and your own fleet is labeled from a whitelist.

What range can I expect?

Range depends on the drone's transmitter, terrain and line of sight. From an elevated site, the RT-1 tower node plans to about 5 km. We model terrain coverage for your sites before you buy.

Are there subscription or license fees?

No. Hardware includes firmware updates, the LOOKOUT ATAK plugin (download code emailed with your order) and a one-year warranty. Nodes are made to order and ship within 45 days, with free U.S. shipping. Agencies can pay by card online or by purchase order.

Services
