LOOKOUT / Drone awareness for fire aviation and public safety

Every drone near the fire, in every cockpit.

LOOKOUT is Peregrine's standalone drone-awareness product for fire aviation and public safety. It brings detections from the radar and Remote ID sensors around an incident into one picture and shows the drones near the fire as traffic on the electronic flight bag crews already carry.

How it works

Partner sensors in. One air picture out.

First use: showing an agency's own drones to the crewed aircraft working the same incident.

Proven sensors

Detection from partner radar and Remote ID

LOOKOUT takes detections from commercial drone radars, Remote ID receivers, including our own LOOKOUT RID Sensors, and TAK feeds. Radar sees drones that broadcast nothing; Remote ID adds who they are. We help agencies plan where sensors go to cover the incident.

One drone, one track

Every source combined at the incident

A ground node at the incident combines every feed into one track per drone and records which sensors saw it, so crews see one drone, not three.

Into every cockpit

One air picture, every aircraft

The ground node radios one signed air picture to a small, receive-only unit in each aircraft, which shows the drones that matter to that aircraft on the crew's flight bag. No aircraft modification. A lost link shows as no air picture, never as an empty sky.

Air attack and law enforcement

The right information to the right people

Air tactical supervisors get a live drone page. Law enforcement gets drone and operator locations over TAK, plus a tamper-evident record. Operator locations never go to the cockpit.

Standalone, FOVEA-ready

Works on its own, or inside a bigger picture

LOOKOUT is a complete product on its own at an incident. Agencies that also run FOVEA can bring LOOKOUT's drone picture into a wider multi-sensor operating picture.

Status

Software available, hardware designed

LOOKOUT runs end to end in simulation and replay, on a standard Windows or Linux PC as the ground node. The LOOKOUT ATAK plugin is signed by the TAK Product Center and runs in production ATAK-CIV. The purpose-built ground node and aircraft unit are designed; neither is built and nothing has flown. Alert thresholds are set in flight test. Advisory only, never for separation.
